Palani Murugan temple

Ramanathaswamy Temple, Rameswaram

Ramanathaswamy Temple is a Shiva temple located on Rameswaram island. Ramnathasamy Temple is one among the the twelve of Jyotirlinga temples. The legend says that the temple was established and worshiped by Rama, to absolve the sins created during the Ramayana war at Sri Lanka. People consider this place as pure as kasi. Diety Shiva is worshipped by two Lingas. One Linga was made by Lord Rama and another Linga was made by Sita, wife of lord Rama. The temple is fortified by large walls in both sides. Kanchi Kailasanthar Temple, Kanchipuram

Kanchi Kailasanthar Temple is a Siva temple built by Pallavas during 685AD. This is the oldest existing structure in Kanchipuram. It is also said that Raja Raja Cholan 1 was inspired by this temple to build Brihadeeswarar temple. There is a circumambulatory passage, with a symbolic meaning is situated along the compound wall. The passage consists of a narrow entry through which devotees enter. Devotees must crawl to pass through the passage. Then there are seven steps to be climbed to reach the passage. Passage symbolises our passage of life. The passage exit denotes the death. The temple is very unique in its way.
