Rameshwaram- Abode of Lord of Rama!

Rameshwaram howls of the tale of the classic Ramayana where; spiritual divinity encapsulates the town drawing flocks of pilgrims on the grandeur where Goddess Sita had instilled the Lingam, the existence of the ever-lasting and large footprints of Lord Rama on its sands and the majestic tale of the ape’s help, all singing together of its subsistence. Such is a land of the Shaivas and Vaishnavas where every spot gives a picture of mere magnificence. Rameshwaram houses on the Pamban Island that is connected to the mainland India by a Pamban bridge.
This bridge serves as ingress to the land of mysticism that is considered as one of the holiest places in India next to Varanasi. Located at the tip of the Indian peninsula, it is this bridge that holds tight the island from floating (). There is yet another bridge; the RamSetu Bridge that is believed to have been built by the apes with the help of smaller stones, limestone, and rocks as a token of assistance to Lord Rama in rescuing his wife Sita from the abductor; Lord Ravana.
According to the Hindu epic, Ramayana; the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu, Rama prayed to Lord Shiva to absolve any sins that he might have committed during the war with demon king; Ravana. Further, the eminent temple of Lord Shiva; the Ramanathaswamy Temple is a saga to be told that echoes still in the hearts of many devotees. The history of which is centuries old that all began when Lord Rama instructed Hanuman; the monkey god to bring lingam from the Himalayas but, on his delay, Goddess Sita along with Ram and his brother Lakshman built a lingam out of the sand from the shore and worshipped to expiate the sins on killing a Brahmin (Ravana).
This Lingam built by Sita is believed to remain in the sanctum of the temple. But there are several other versions on the origination of this temple and one such is that; Lord Rama himself installed the Lingam before constructing the bridge to Lanka. Thus, this temple is visited by lot many as they consider it very auspicious too. Further, there is an Agnitheertham outside the temple complex that is recognized as one of the 64 sacred baths in Rameshwaram.
