Kanyakumari- Southern Pearl!

Earlier called as Cape Comorin, this place is a confluence of the three colossal seas; Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal that has been a center for art and tradition for over centuries. Besides known to all for its captivating shores, subtle charisma, and temples, this place’s beauty lies in its wealthy legacy, stretches of sand across the shores and the sunset and sunrise that drags flocks of tourists to its place. Mythological facts say that Goddess; Devi Kanya Kumari is said to protect the shores and so the name has been derived, and so the temple had been consecrated here. If you are a thrill seeker or want that adrenaline rush then Kanyakumari is a club of activities, starting right from sailing and boating to surfing and trekking. Below are some of the must-visit places in Kanyakumari;
1. Olakaruvi Falls-
Olakaruvi Falls, also called as Ullakarvi Falls is a beautiful cascade that is approximately 25 km from Nagercoil in the Kanyakumari district. Nestled beautifully in the Western Ghats, this falls has two other falls, the lower one acts as a picnic spot from which one needs to trek to go to the higher falls that is approximately 200 meters uphill. If you want that adrenaline rush then I would suggest you that the best place to visit this falls is through trekking via the forests.
2. Kanyakumari Temple-
The Kanyakumari Temple here is also called as Kumari Amman Temple that is dedicated to Goddess Devi Kumari Amman. This temple is known for its massive religious importance which sees thousands of devotees thronging to this place to pay due respect to the Goddess and seek her blessings. She is known to protect the shores. The significance of this place is that; it is one of the Shakthi Peethas and includes pieces of Goddess Durga that fell here during the Shiva Tandava.
3. Vivekananda Rock Memorial-
One of the fine pieces of artistic excellence and an endeavor at architecture in the Southern part of India, Vivekananda Rock Memorial was built in the year 1970 that is situated on a rock island and attracts tourists from all around the year. This memorial houses the statue of the great Master Vivekananda who is known to have swum across this place and settled here to meditate.
